On November 4, it was announced that Aespa would be releasing a remake of S.E.S.s 'Dreams Come True' on December 20 for SMs Remastering Project and as the lead single of the SM Town album, 2021 Winter SM Town: SMCU Express. Overall it’s just the opening that I could have done without but it also feels pretty true to aespa’s sound and makes it recognisable so take that as you will. aespa’s spin on this is cool – the bridge with the high pitched voices is interesting for sure… But yeah the last chorus kills it for me that slaps. The post chorus is also my favorite part of the song with the original instrumental coming in.
The opening of the song is true to aespa’s style, kind of cringe, and I nearly died but I made it through, but the chorus is fantastic and I love to hear aespa’s vocals. The mini album kinda saved them for me as the b-sides were really nice but their titles – even if I ended up giving in to Next Level – are never my cup of tea ( Black Mamba still is their best title.) I am not the biggest fan of aespa’s music so far.
